I have been quiet for a few months but oh so busy getting back to colour, form and adventure! Consider subscribing to my newsletter HERE for more updated info.
Well, it is all covered over now. The site that brought so many people to Orkney for all reasons, is now covered BUT the work continues in the form of research. While I enjoyed overlooking it all and the challenge of creating a visual memory, I too want to understand more about the use of the site and the why behind it all. To that end, today there was an OPEN DAY for the Ness at the Community Center in Stenness, Orkney.
Working alongside the art and archaeology expert, Dr. Antonia Thomas, I was demonstrating printing with natural watercolours using my whiteline woodblock carvings. These woodblocks use marks discovered at the Ness of Brodgar over the past 20 years of excavations. I invited visitors to try their hand at printing my "Ness" marks on wood while being able to see some of the actual stones they were found on with Antonia. Here is Antonia Thomas happy to show off the marks of the Ness. The day was very well attended and all the local experts were on hand from John Gaitor of Time Team, Nick Card, Mark Edmunds, Chris Gee, Roy Trowers, Jan Blanchford and so many others.
